The unparished part of the town actually represents the bulk of the town. There are several areas that are often classed as part of the town but these are actually separate parishes.

The town is home to a big shopping centre which is called Festival Place. Festival Place shopping centre first opened during autumn 2002. The shopping centre has made a dramatic change to the centre of the town. The centre is now home to a range of cafes, restaurants and shops.
