Creating A Teens Room

If your teenager is in the mood to decorate their bedroom, then prepare yourself for quite an adventure! Remembering that their tastes aren’t usually your own, allowing them to use plenty of color, and letting them express themselves through floor coverings can allow this time to be a lot less stressful. Below are a few tips to help you get started.

When you and your teenager start having the talk about how they want to redecorate their bedroom, you should go into this conversation with an open mind. Chances are, their ideas are going to be very far from yours! You should, however, talk to your teen about reaching a compromise. After all, your money is going to fund this project and much to your teens disbelief, you know that in a few months their interests will change. Let them bring in a few things that they love and you put a few things of your own in that will give you a room that is easily redecorated.

Teenagers need a lot of colors that are bright. The walls are not the only thing that can display the bright colors. Add pictures that incorporate bright colors and add a bright colored frame around the picture. Comforters can display any color that they want and you can change it easily. Window treatments are another thing in the room that can be changed easily as well as throw pillows. You may want to go with neutral colors.

Last, but not least, let your teenager go crazy with floor coverings! Area rugs are a great way to help add to the design of a room and there are thousands of designs to choose from. If you are afraid to paint the walls lime green, let your teenager choose a lime green rug! If it’s a modern look that they want, let them choose one with geometric designs in clean, crisp colors. Area rugs are easy to spot clean and can be moved around to different areas of the room to create a whole new look. You can shop for these online and order them online as well. It creates one less shopping trip for you and the rug will be delivered to your front door! Using an area rug will really help you and your teenager complete the design of their room and make it their own.

Remember that your teenager will change his or her mind in a couple of months so even if you don’t agree with their look, grin and bare it. Compromising is the key to creating a room that they enjoy and you can afford. Make their room functional for them and stress free for you.
