What You Need To Know About Getting A Hot Tub For Your Garden

A hot tub (or a jacuzzi if you prefer) is a great addition to your home. You will spend hours relaxing in it, both in the summer and the winter, and it will also increase the value of your property when you come to sell it. Finding and buying one is not difficult, but there are some things that you need to consider…

- Cost

For $5000, you can get a great five person hot tub and, for most people, that is all that they will need. Some hot tub models can cost upwards of $10,000, but for that price you can get something that would not look out of place in the palace of a Saudi prince. In between those prices, you can get hot tubs with nice features added, such as fiber optics and speakers to play music from. As well as the quality of a hot tub, and the features it comes with, do not forget to take into consideration the length of the warranty offered. It is definitely worth paying a little extra for a hot tub that comes with a long warranty.

- Technicalities

Choosing a space in your garden for your hot tub and getting it installed is the hardest part of the process. Having it as near to your house as possible is advisable, and you should really lay some kind of foundations for it. A poured reinforced concrete slab works best as a base (which will set you back about $750), or a well-constructed level patio or deck. A standard 110 volt household current might be able to run the heater or pump on a five person hot tub, but not on all models. Therefore, you might require dedicated wiring of 220 volts. An electrician can take care of this for you, but they will need to do the work before the hot tub is installed, not afterwards.

- Covering

Covering your hot tub with a gazebo is not essential, but you will get a lot more use out of it if you use one, as the weather will not stop you using it whenever you want to. With a good quality gazebo in place, your hot tub area can have the look and feel of a room, especially if your get one fitted with lights and a heater. A good gazebo can set you back a couple of thousand dollars, but it really is money well spent. You do not have to make a decision just yet though, as you can get one set-up after the hot tub has been installed without any problems.

That is all there is to do it! So, whilst you will have to put a little more into the process than you maybe first thought you would have to, it is all easy enough really. There is no reason why you cannot have your hot tub installed and up and running within a couple of weeks.
